Welcome!

We have started this blog to chronicle the many letters, postcards, photos and writings found in numerous boxes and trunks in our Grandmother's (Emmy Sutton Moore's) home. She saved every letter she ever received as did her mother (Lena Igel Sutton) and grandmother (Emma Schussler Igel) before her. These letters and writings are treasures of times past and a lovely look into another age.
If you are reading a blog for the first time you need to know a few things. First, blog postings are done in reverse order... that is, the first post you see is actually the latest one entered. So, you might want to actually start at the bottom and work your way up. Not that the postings are in any particular order. We are basically randomly choosing documents and transcribing them. Second, we make changes to older posts when we realize more information needs to be added or that we transcribed something wrong. It happens.
Third; we are loving this. The connection with the past is so real as we hold these letters and feel the emotions of our ancestors. They were real people who lived in amazing times and we are so proud to be part of that heritage. So, enjoy!
